BIC Sport has launched its new YakkAir range, a revolution in inflatable kayaks.
The guiding principle of these innovative boats has been the use of multiple materials in the construction to help reduce weight, plus the combination of a keel and a high-pressure inflatable hull/floor to maximise the V effect. Result : the YakkAir series are lighter, perform better and give a more comfortable ride than conventional inflatable kayaks.
They have reduced wind drag/resistance and are easier to steer at sea, giving them a performance equal to that of existing rigid designs.
Folded down into a carry bag, they're easy to carry on foot or in the boot of your car, and are fully inflated for use in minutes using a high pressure pump with a pressure gauge. On the water, YakkAir kayaks are simple to steer and deliver excellent performance thanks to the dynamic hull design.
Contrary to most inflatable models, you'll be paddling in the dry thanks to the rigid high-pressure floor and the water run offs in the double floor. And paddle comfort has also been improved with the use of a belt backrest as standard. Its smooth glide and excellent sea handling mean you can get away from the shore and go exploring in complete safety.
Developed directly from the successful YAKKAir HP, the YAKKAir Lite is aimed specifically at coastal paddling close to the beach, for rivers and for other inland waters. Suitable for all skill levels, stable, strong and light weight, the YAKKAir Lite is the ideal way to get out on the water on your holidays.
On the construction side, the same multi-material format as used on the YAKKAir HP (Polyurethane bladders + Dacron bladder sleeve, multi-tube bottom with a coated fabric outer skin) has been used. The rigid stiffeners at front and rear tips help to pre-form the hull, sharpening the cutting edge and further improving the already excellent glide.
The YAKKAir Lite One has been designed for one person use. Stable, fast, light weight and comfortable, it comes with a seat/backrest as standard.

The Trinidad is a kayak purpose-built for leisure : compact, capable of taking two adults and a child on board, it’s highly versatile and stable making it suitable for all kinds of situations. Essentially, the Kalao combines capacity of the old style family canoe, with the safety of a Sit-on-Top kayak! The other big first : it can be adapted to take an electric motor. Four factors guided the design team in their work : keeping the weight evenly balanced when in use, being unsinkable, stability and getting back on board in case of falling off. The team tested every conceivable “accident” scenario and the BIC 245 is the result of all that work. The relatively low cockpit rim and numerous carry handles make climbing back in after falling/ jumping out simple and safe. When empty, the cockpit float line is below the level of the floor, allowing the cockpit to self-empty. One, two or three people can fit comfortably in a 245. The double rowing position allows you to choose your seating configuration. That means you can adjust to any size oarsman for efficient rowing without compromising onbalance.
The catamaran hull gives the best possible stability. It means you can load up on one side of the boat without fear of capsizing. This shape with flat lateral sections gives also an exceptional glide, with an efficient anti-drift.
All-terrain wheels make transport easyare integrated into the design of the hull for easy handling over beaches, banks and jetties. The wheels are integrated into the design of the hull and don’t in any way affect its performance on water. You can load all your equipment in the boat and take it easily down to the water’s edge.
